The invention relates to a method for optimising the power enhancement of photovoltaic solar plants using smart preventive and predictive maintenance to detect the failure of modules or cells within the modules, and aerial inspection by infrared thermography and/or electroluminescence. In the method according to the invention, the defective modules detected are subdivided into groups according to different types of failures: A - irreversible failure; B - reversible failure; and C - partially reversible failure. Power is enhanced by replacing the modules with a failure of type A by other, new modules, of greater power, and by rearranging the modules, connecting them in series in the same strings (1). The modules with a failure of type B are repaired and replaced in their original position, and the modules of type C are either rearranged in series in the strings, or are replaced by new modules having a greater power, which are also connected in series in the strings (1).
