PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope improved in operability of a hood at the tip end part of the insertion portion of the endoscope.SOLUTION: An endoscope 1 includes: an insertion portion 20 inserted into the body of a subject and having an insertion shaft a hood 21 engaged with the tip end part of the insertion portion 20 and provided to be movable back and forth in an insertion shaft direction a magnet 32 holding the hood 21 on the insertion portion 2 by magnetic force a wire 31 inserted through the insertion portion 2 and moving the magnet 32 back and forth and a guide 34 regulating the movement of the magnet 32 in the insertion shaft direction of the insertion portion 2 and making the magnetic force act on the hood 21.
