PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition that gradually releases a volatile compound effective for preservation of plants, and to provide a preservation method.SOLUTION: The composition comprises: (a) a meltable solid matrix comprising (i) one or more solid hydrophobic substances and (ii) one or more solid hydrophilic substances； and (b) distributed in the matrix, one or more encapsulation complex of a volatile cyclopropene compound encapsulated in a molecular encapsulation agent.
