The apparatus comprises a sheet (20), an input unit (30), a processing unit (40), and at least one light source (50). The sheet is configured to support a patient during transfer from a bed of the patient to a bed of a diagnostic imaging system. The input unit is configured to receive information relating to at least one known pain area of at least one part of the patient's body. The input unit is configured to provide the processing unit with the information relating to the at least one known pain area of at least one part of the patient's body. The processing unit is configured to control the at least one of the at least one light source to provide light illumination at at least one first position of the sheet. Control of the at least one of the at least one light source comprises utilization of the information relating to the at least one known pain area of at least one part of the patient's body.
