The haptic structure retains the ophthalmic device within a capsular bag of a patient's eye. At least a portion of the haptic structure has a cross-section and a peripheral surface (128A) forming an outer periphery of a portion of the cross-section. At least a portion of the peripheral surface contacts the capsular bag and is smoothly curved.
