The present invention discloses topical pharmaceutical formulations of berberine and its biologically equivalent analogs, such as palmatine and coptothin, for the treatment of injections and other redness-related skin disorders. The topical pharmaceutical formulations of the present invention contain purified berberine as a major active drug ingredient in a concentration of greater than 0.1%.
