A suture comprising: an elongate body including an outer surface at least one barb extending from the elongated body and defining an inner surface, the inner surface including: a substantially linear first portion disposed at a first orientation relative to a first longitudinal axis of the elongate body, wherein the first portion is disposed at a first angle from about 31 degrees to about 38 degrees relative to the first longitudinal axis of the elongate body and a substantially linear second portion disposed at a second orientation relative to a second longitudinal axis of the elongate body, wherein the second portion is disposed at a second angle from about 1 degree to about 8 degrees relative to the second longitudinal axis of the elongate body wherein the barbs are equally spaced and project towards one end of the suture, wherein at least one end of the suture comprises a loop and wherein the suture is formed of absorbable materials, non-absorbable materials and combinations thereof.
