Disclosed is a supplemented animal feed comprising an edible animal feed and a mineral complex, wherein the mineral complex comprises about 40 wt.% to about 60 wt.% SiO2, about 6 wt.% to about 16 wt.% Fe2O3, about 4 wt.% to about 12 wt.%. CaO, and about 2 wt. % to about 8 wt% MgO. The mineral complex is a natural volcanic mineral deposit composition. Also disclosed is a method for increasing weight gain or production of an animal by feeding them the animal feed. In particular the animal is a pig (swine), cow (bovine) or chicken (poultry).
