FIELD: forestry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forestry and can be used in remote monitoring of forest areas on vast territories. Remote method of selecting areas of forest with predominance of coniferous or deciduous trees includes remote registration of brightness fields of forest vegetation from aircraft carrier. That is ensured by laser probing from an aircraft carrier at two wavelengths λ1, λ2, which are safe for vision and selected according to experimental data in UV and near infrared spectral ranges. According to measurement data information index is formed R(λ1,λ2)=I(λ2)/I(λ1), equal to ratio of detected intensities I(λ1) and I(λ2) at wavelengths λ1, λ2. Coniferous or deciduous areas are considered to comply with the following ratios: R(λ1, λ2) ≥ Rtr(λ1, λ2) for deciduous； R(λ1, λ2) <； Rtr(λ1, λ2) for coniferous species； where λ1 = 355 nm, λ2 = 2,100 nm； Rtr(λ1, λ2) is a threshold value selected as a result of preliminary analysis of reflection spectra of coniferous and deciduous trees in the given region.EFFECT: method makes it possible to monitor irrespective of the time of day and in a wide range of atmospheric conditions at flight altitudes of the aircraft carrier to units of km.1 cl, 5 dwgИзобретение относится к лесному хозяйству и может найти применение при дистанционном мониторинге лесных массивов на обширных территориях. Дистанционный способ выделения участков леса с преобладанием хвойных или лиственных пород деревьев включает дистанционную регистрацию полей яркости лесной растительности с авиационного носителя. Для этого используют лазерное зондирование с авиационного носителя на безопасных для зрения двух длинах волн λ1, λ2, выбранных по экспериментальным данным в УФ и ближнем ИК спектральных диапазонах.
