Biocidal composition comprising 2,2-dibromomalonamide and an isothiazolinone-based biocide of the formula I: where R and R independently represent hydrogen, halogen or C-C alkyl or R and R together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached form a C-C cycloalkyl ring or an aryl group； and Y is H, C-C alkyl, C-C -cycloalkyl, aryl, or aralkyl. 2. The composition of claim 1, wherein the weight ratio of 2,2-dibromomalonamide to isothiazolinone biocide of formula I is in the range from about 100: 1 to about 1: 400. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the isothiazolinone biocide of formula I is 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and the weight ratio of 2,2-dibromomalonamide and 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazoline -3-it is from about 32: 1 to about 1: 2.4. The composition of claim 1, wherein the isothiazolinone biocide is 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and the weight ratio of 2,2-dibromomalonamide to 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one is from about 4: 1 up to about 1: 4.5. The composition according to claim 1, wherein the isothiazolinone-based biocide is 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octylisothiazolin-3-one and the mass ratio of 2,2-dibromomalonamide and 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octylisothiazolin-3 - it is from about 4: 1 to about 1: 16.6.
