PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend a dynamic range in the state of maintaining high image quality.
SOLUTION: An illuminometer 16 is attached to the distal end part 10A of a video scope 10 an illuminance value (luminance level) is detected by the illuminometer 16, and the level of output signals from a CCD 12 is detected corresponding to it. Linear relation within the dynamic range of the CCD 12 is obtained on the basis of the detected illuminance value and output signal value, and the output signal out of the dynamic range and a correction coefficient for it are made to correspond on the basis of the linear relation within the dynamic range. Then, during actual observation, in a linear correction circuit, the correction coefficient is multiplied with the output signal out of the dynamic range.
