The present invention discloses hemostatic dressings with an antimicrobial action based on chitosan hydrogels, which are thin and flexible foams with antimicrobial and absorbable hemostatic actions, based on chitosan. The hemostatic property is produced by positive charges of the chitosan which interact with the negative charges of the red blood cells, causing bleeding to stop, thereby reducing the risk of infection. In addition, by being biocompatible, said dressings activate and optimize the healing process. The invention also relates to a method for obtaining said hemostatic dressings, comprising the steps of freezing and lyophilizing the same for producing a porous three- dimensional matrix with biological, physical and mechanical characteristics that are improved with alginate and crosslinking agents. Due to the technical characteristics of the invention, the production costs as well as those of the final product are significantly reduced in comparison with the existing hemos tatic dressings, which are of exclusive military use in many cases, and are made of non-biocompatible materials, the cost is high and are not always available for commercial use in civil life or in the pre-hospital field.La presente invención consiste en apósitos hemostáticos con acción antimicrobiana a base de hidrogeles de quitosano, los cuales son esponjas flexibles y finas con acciones hemostáticas, antimicrobianas y absorbibles a base de quitosano. Su propiedad hemostática se debe a que las cargas positivas del quitosano interaccionan con las cargas negativas de los glóbulos rojos deteniendo el sangrado y reduciendo el riesgo de infección. Además, al ser biocompatibles activan la curación y se optimiza la cicatrización.
