The present invention relates to new functionalized 9-bromo-camptothecin derivatives (I) which have cytotoxic activity and are useful in the treatment of diseases such as cancer, cell proliferative disorders and viral infections. The present invention also provides a method for producing these compounds, a pharmaceutical composition containing the compound, and a method for treating a disease using the compound or a pharmaceutical composition containing the compound.
