The present invention relates to a lipid composition that self-emulsifies in the presence of a hydrophilic phase, the composition comprising from 0.001% to 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of at least one active substance; 5% to 60% by weight of an oily phase, based on the total weight of the composition; a first surfactant; a second surfactant, wherein the first surfactant and the second surfactant are combined. The ratio is 0.5 to 6, and the lipid composition forms particles having a charge of 10 mV to 100 mV as an absolute value after being dispersed in the hydrophilic phase. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing a self-emulsifying lipid composition, and to the use of said self-emulsifying lipid composition in the field of medicine or nutritional veterinary medicine.
