The present invention relates to a method for producing a sponge powder having an acicular structure, and to a sponge powder produced through the same to have an acicular structure. The method comprises: a pulverizing step of producing a sponge powder by pulverizing a sponge and a reacting step of feeding and reacting the sponge powder in a hydrochloric acid solution. According to the present invention, 200 to 600 parts by weight of the hydrochloric acid solution is used with respect to 100 parts by weight of the sponge powder.
