A skin removal device (10) includes a housing (12) having a handle portion (14), a drum assembly (49) coupled to the handle portion (14) and including a drum (48), the drum (48) having an abrasive outer surface (50) configured to abrade skin of a user during rotation of the drum (48), and an electromechanical drive system disposed at least partially within the housing (12) and configured to rotate the drum (48). The drum assembly (49) is movable in a lateral direction relative to the handle portion (14) to enable insertion and removal of the drum assembly (49).
