The present invention relates to a method of reducing the heterogeneity of an antibody during culture wherein said heterogeneity is due to the ratio of the antibody variant to the charge variant. The present invention is also directed to a method of growing cells in a cell culture system that results in reduced heterogeneity of antibodies. In one embodiment, the antibody heterogeneity is reduced by adding a bivalent transition metal ion such as zinc (Zn <； 2 + >；) to the culture medium.
