PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a platy powder coated with spherical polymer microparticles having soft focus functions and optical anisotropy functions, and to provide a cosmetic including the platy powder coated with the spherical polymer microparticles.
SOLUTION: The surface of a platy powder is coated with the spherical polymer microparticles having a shell of polyethylene glycol on the outside by dispersing a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, m and n represent each an integer of &ge1) in the presence of the platy powder in a solution, subsequently adding a radically polymerizable monomer, and carrying out dispersion polymerization.
