The present invention stems from the finding that the interaction between the β2 adrenoceptor (β2ΑΡ) and type IV pilus-associated proteins initiates a process leading to the opening of the blood-brain barrier. The invention therefore pertains to a vaccine for preventing the spreading of meningococci into the meningeal space, wherein said vaccine allows the production of antibodies inhibiting the interaction between the type IV pilus-associated proteins and the β2ΑΡ.La présente invention concerne la découverte que l'interaction entre le β2 adrénorécepteur (β2AP) et des protéines associées au pilus de type IV déclenche un processus conduisant à l'ouverture de la barrière hémato-encéphalique. L'invention concerne par conséquent un vaccin pour la prévention de la multiplication de méningocoques dans l'espace méningé, ledit vaccin permettant la production d'anticorps inhibant l'interaction entre les protéines associés au pilus de type IV et le β2AP.
