An orthosis including a proximal portion consisting of an armband and a strap around the forearm as well as a distal portion consisting of a palm support and a strap around the hand. The support is pivotable relative to the armband about a transverse pivot axis which substantially coincides with the flexion/extension axis of the users wrist joint when the orthosis is being worn by a user. The orthosis further comprises pivotal locking means for use in a desired angular position.
