A topical composition for treating or preventing cellulite is described. The composition comprises (i) a therapeutically effective amount of each of Furcellaria lumbricalis and Fucus vesiculosus (ii) a therapeutically effective amount of one or more skin care actives selected from the group consisting of: glaucine, retinol, conjugated linoleic acid and caffeine and (iii) a dermatologically acceptable carrier. The combination of actives in the composition demonstrates a synergistic effect on the breakdown of fats in human adipose tissue.
