A sterile hydrogel composition comprising a crosslinked polymer, wherein the crosslinked polymer is an oxidation product of a thiol-modified hyaluronan and wherein the thiol-modified hyaluronan has a degree of modification of hyaluronan with thiol moieties of more than about 80 μmol per gram polymer, wherein the thiol-modified hyaluronan has a degree of modification of hyaluronan with thiol moieties of less than about 280 μmol per gram polymer, wherein the composition has a residual thiol content of less than 20% in respect to the degree of modification of the thiol-modified hyaluronan.L'invention concerne une composition d'hydrogel stérile comprenant un polymère réticulé, le polymère réticulé étant un produit d'oxydation d'un hyaluronane modifié par des thiols et l'hyaluronane modifié par des thiols ayant un degré de modification d'hyaluronane avec des fractions thiols supérieur à environ 80 µmol par gramme de polymère, l'hyaluronane modifié par des thiols ayant un degré de modification de l'hyaluronane avec des fractions thiols inférieur à environ 280 µmol par gramme de polymère, la composition ayant une teneur en thiols résiduels inférieure à 20 % par rapport au degré de modification de l'hyaluronane modifié par des thiols.
