PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double bearing type reel for fishing which incorporates a compact brake mechanism for applying brake force to a spool side in a state of feeding a fishing line and releasing the brake force in a state of winding the fishing line, and instantly acting the brake force to the spool in the state of feeding the fishing line by the brake mechanism.SOLUTION: A double bearing type reel for fishing comprises a spool brake mechanism 70 for applying brake force to rotation of a spool shaft 5 which rotates integrally with a spool 6 by rotation operation of an adjustment member 60 provided on a support part 3ba of a reel body 1.
