PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional plaque detector using light, the problem being reduction in detection accuracy caused by the detector using a non-contact system in which a light source and the detector are separated from teeth, making it difficult for the teeth to be adequately irradiated with excited radiation light from the light source and making it difficult, because of the same reason, for fluorescent light emitted from the teeth to be appropriately incident on a photoconductor.SOLUTION: A plaque detector comprising a light guide body 4 for detecting plaque includes: fiber bundles 40a to 40h in contact with a tip 4t of the light guide body 4 and actuation means (actuator 20) for actuating the fiber bundles 40a to 40h.
