PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel antibiotic-producing and metabolite-producing Bacillus subtilis strain exhibiting insecticidal, antifungal and antibacterial activities, and to provide effective insecticidal, antifungal and antibacterial agents containing the supernatant of the cultures [containing a solvent extractable, having a small molecular weight (<10,000 daltons) and containing a corn rootworm-active metabolite], and a method of protecting or treating plants from fungal and bacterial infections and corn worm infestations. SOLUTION: The biologically pure cultures of the novel strain of Bacillus subtilis strain AQ713, NRRL access number B-21661, and its variant having all identified characteristics of the strain are provided.
