PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable many pieces of detailed information necessary for research and an experiment to be tracked in a form that they are not separated from an individual animal instead of conventional individual identification management simply by a bar code or a number, and also enable information on various treatments applied in a research process to be added without separating the information from the individual animal.SOLUTION: An IC tag for an experimental animal in which a tag body part that incorporates a non-volatile memory and an antenna, and performs writing/reading of information by radio means is coated with a material that does not influence a living body includes an IC tag to be embedded in the body of an experimental animal. In an information management system for an experimental animal according to the present invention, individual information on an experimental animal is written in the IC tag mounted on the experimental animal on an experimental animal breeder side using a reader/writer through radio means, and, on a researcher/user side, the individual information on the experimental animal is read using the reader/writer through radio means, and used as a research material for tracking, investigations, experiments, etc. of the experimental animal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6【課題】従来の単にバーコードや番号による個体識別管理ではなく、研究や実験に必要な多くの詳細情報をその個体動物と分離しない形で追跡可能とし、研究過程で施した各種の処置に関する情報も個体動物と分離せずに追記することを可能とする。【解決手段】この実験動物用ICタグは、不揮発性メモリおよびアンテナを内蔵し無線手段で情報の書込み・読出しがなされるタグ本体部を生体無影響素材で被覆し、かつ、実験動物の体内に埋め込まれるICタグを有する。本発明に係る実験動物の情報管理システムは、実験動物に実装されたICタグに実験動物の飼育業者側で実験動物に関する個体情報を無線手段を用いたリーダ・ライタにより書き込み、研究・利用者側ではその実験動物の個体情報を無線手段を用いたリーダ・ライタにより読み出し、実験動物の追跡、調査、実験等の研究資料とする。【選択図】 図6
