The invention further provides agent preparations encapsulated within the membrane compositions, including a plurality of individual particles wherein each particle contains agent preparation individually encapsulated within membrane composition. The invention also provides processes for preparing encapsulated agent preparations or individual particles of encapsulated agent preparations. The agents may be biologically active including hydrophilic, hydrophobic, small molecule or large molecule therapeutic agents. The invention further provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising encapsulated agent preparations or individual particles of encapsulated agent preparations.
