PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide film coating compositions that use PVA having a saponification degree agreed with the specifications on PVA written in the official compendiums of Japan, the U.S. and Europe, i.e. the saponification degree of 85.0-89.0 mol%, wherein cohesion between tablets in a coating is difficult to occur when coating is performed, the film coating compositions being excellent in moisture barrier properties while expressing high productivity of a comparable degree to that in the case of coating with HPMC only to provide oral solid formulations using the same, and to provide production methods thereof.SOLUTION: A film coating composition for oral solid formulation contains polyvinyl alcohol with an average saponification degree of 85.0-89.0 mol% and a water soluble cellulose derivative, wherein the polyvinyl alcohol satisfies the following requirement (A) or requirement (B). Requirement (A): the transparency of the liquid obtained by adding 130.0 ml of 1-propanol to 100.0 g of 5.0 mass% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol and stirring it is 50.0% or less at 20°C. Requirement (B): the concentration of the supernatant obtained by adding 230.0 ml of 1-propanol to 100.0 g of 5.0 mass% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, stirring it, and being allowed to stand it for 24 hours at 20°C is 0.75 mass% or more.SELECTED DRAWING: NoneCOPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT
