The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for skin whitening containing a Polygoni multiflori caulis extract as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the Polygoni multiflori caulis extract of the present invention inhibits the genetic expression of tyrosinase, tyrosinase related protein-1 (TRP-1), tyrosinase related protein-2 (TRP-2), or microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), and promotes liver X receptor (LXR) activity, thereby inhibiting melanin biosynthesis, thus consequently exhibiting a skin whitening effect.La présente invention concerne une composition cutanée pour le blanchiment de la peau contenant un extrait de tiges de Polygonum Multiflorum (renouée à fleurs multiples) en tant que principe actif.
