PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical drive system including a vacuum motor, a medical washing system, a medical device for brushing, rasping, or sewing, and a method for operating a vacuum motor.SOLUTION: A vacuum motor comprises: a housing 1, 2 with a cylindrical internal space 4； a working piston 5 that is mobile by linear oscillation between the front side and the rear side of the internal space； a first restoring element 6； a gas outlet 7； a gas inlet 8 for supplying ambient air； a valve body 10 that moves against the gas inlet in order to close the gas inlet； a second restoring element 11 that transitions the valve body into the closed position； and a pestle 12 that is arranged such as to be mobile between the working piston and the valve body. The working piston does not cover the gas outlet and the gas inlet. At the time of movement of the working piston toward the rear side of the internal space, the pestle makes the valve body move against the force of the second restoring element and thus the gas inlet is opened.
