In some embodiments, the vitrectomy probe can include an inner incision tube that reciprocates in the outer tube. The outer tube includes a side port, and the inner tube includes a distal incision port, and in some embodiments an additional side port. In some embodiments, the diaphragm drives the inner tube and may have an open-stroke side with a lower hardness material than the closed-stroke side. In some embodiments, the suction tube coupled to the vitreous ablation probe can include a first suction tubing and a second suction tubing having a lower hardness than the first suction tubing.
