PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants type disposable diaper in which a distance between front and rear ends of an absorbent body and a waist opening end is rather small, and fitness of a waist part is improved to prevent leakage.SOLUTION: In an exterior sheet 20, a front bodice and a rear bodice have a plurality of waist part elastic members 24 disposed in the horizontal direction at intervals in the vertical direction, and there are formed non-expandable parts 30 obtained by not applying expandable and contractible force to all or some of the waist part elastic members 24 located between a front end 10a of an absorbent body 10 and a waist opening part 20a of the front bodice and between a rear end 10b of the absorbent body 10 and a waist opening end 20b of the rear bodice. Vertical distances Ca and Cb extending from the front and rear ends 10a and 10b of the absorbent body 10 to the waist opening ends 20a and 20b are set to 40 mm or less.
