A surgical apparatus is provided. The surgical apparatus includes an actuatordeviceincluding a body portion defining a longitudinal axis and a first articulatinglink. The firstarticulating link includes a mechanical interface and is movable between a non-articulatedposition and at least one articulated position. A reload is releasably coupledto a distal end ofthe body portion. The reload including a second articulating link configuredto engage thefirst articulating link when the reload is coupled to the actuator device. Thereload includinga tool assembly which is pivotable from a first a position aligned with thelongitudinal axis ofthe body portion to at least one position misaligned with the longitudinalaxis of the bodyportion. The first articulation link and the mechanical interface prevent thereload from beingdisengaged from the actuator device when the first articulating link is in theat least onearticulated position.
