The systems and methods realize easy access to data on the patient's historical adherence via a computer system. In the systems and methods, an accessory is attached to a consumables dispenser, and can be removably and replaceably coupled to the dispenser. The accessory notifies a user that a certain event has occurred and/or that a certain action needs to be taken.
