A method for reducing the viscosity of a pharmaceutical formulation, wherein the viscosity reducing concentration is selected from the group consisting of n-acetylarginine, n-acetyllysine, n-acetylhistidine, n-acetylproline and mixtures thereof. The method is provided utilizing an excipient in combination with a therapeutic protein.
