The bar has a mass divided into small bars (2, 3) comprising specified mass, where the bar is made of noble metal e.g. gold, silver, platinum and palladium, or an alloy comprising the noble metal. A material connection (8) is provided between the directly adjacent small bars. The connection comprises a predetermined breaking point, and a carrier is attached to a lower side of the bar. The material connection is a part of a protrusion (5) i.e. groove, which is brought into the bar. The connection is arranged at distance to an upper side (6) and a lower side (7) of the bar. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a bar made of noble metal or alloy comprising the noble metal.
