PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter of a new structure which can obtain excellent pushability with respect to a narrow section while avoiding an accordion phenomenon caused by push-in resistance by the narrow section with high accuracy.SOLUTION: In a balloon catheter 10 which is provided with a balloon 14 on a distal end side of an outer shaft 20 and where an inner shaft 18 is inserted in the balloon 14, while a reinforcing material 34 extending in a length direction outside the inner shaft 18 is disposed inside the balloon 14, and one end part of the reinforcing material 34 is fixed to an end side of the balloon 14, movement to a distal end side with respect to the outer shaft 20 in the other end part of the reinforcing material 34 is allowed. There is provided a movement restriction mechanism regulating movement to a proximal end side with respect to the outer shaft 20 in the other end part of the reinforcing material 34.
