PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder for a translucent zirconia sintered body, which can produce a zirconia sintered body having high sintered body density and strength, and also superior translucency through a simple process such as pressureless sintering.SOLUTION: The zirconia powder is made of zirconia that contains 2-4 mol% of yttria as a stabilizer and less than 0.1 wt.% of alumina with 0.01-0.5 μm as an additive, has a BET specific surface area of 10-15 m2/gm, and has an average particle diameter of 0.4-0.7 μm.
