The present disclosure provides filaments and/or surgical sutures whichincludean inner core, an outer sheath and a plurality of barbs on a surface thereof.The filamentsand/or surgical sutures further include at least one adhesive precursormaterial which transitionsfrom a non-adherent material to an adhesive material to attach a portion ofthe filament and/orsuture to the surrounding area, such as tissue and/or other portions of thefilament.
